Michael Eister, then-CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, was very interested in "The Snow Queen" project when it was in early development in 2002. Even though he had much less involvement in production of Disney movies in the 2000s than he had in the 1980s and 90s, he had a special passion for the story and characters of the Snow Queen. Eisner offered his support to the project and even suggested doing the film with John Lasseter at Pixar Animation Studios, when the two studios would get their contracts renewed.
